Who Owns You And Who Owns Your Purse?

What are you so puffed up about? What do you have that God hasn’t given to you? And if all you have is from God, why act as though you are so great, and as though you have accomplished something on your own? 1 Corinthians 4:7 (TLB)

Whenever you ask Christians this question, they instantly answer you without hesitation that their lives belong to Jesus, so He owns them. However, the kind of life many live and the choices they make in their day-to-day lives are not consistent with what they affirm. Let me ask you again, dear reader, who owns you and who owns your purse? If you say it’s Jesus, do you think Jesus would say the same? If He truly owns you, then He owns all He has blessed you with. You must understand that in life, you truly own nothing; everything you have as possessions are the things God has committed to your care and made you a manager and caretaker over. Just as our opening text says, there is nothing you have that you have not been given, so you are just a steward of God’s resources. As a steward, you must see yourself not as the owner but as a manager. You are not to be a reservoir that hoards whatever God has given you; you are rather supposed to be a channel and a conveyor that dispenses God’s blessings towards the interests of the Kingdom and to other people too. 

Therefore, you must be found faithful as a manager of God’s resources. Honour Him with your substance; give Him what belongs to Him with joy in your heart. The truth is, giving is a test of ownership. If truly God owns you and all your resources, then it won’t be difficult to give them to Him. You must constantly acknowledge and declare God’s ownership over your life and everything you have, and you must never withhold anything He lays in your heart to give. The LORD weighs actions, so it is through your giving that you earn His trust in your ability to manage His resources faithfully. The level to which God can trust you is the level to which He will bless you. If truly God owns your money, then you will give it for the furtherance of His gospel. If God truly owns you, giving is the test and proof of ownership.

PRAYERS
Father, in the Name of Jesus, I thank You for renewing my mind by Your Word today. LORD Jesus, I acknowledge You as the LORD over my life and all You have blessed me with. I receive grace and the willingness of heart to constantly lay my life and everything You have given me on the altar for Your glory in Jesus Mighty Name.

Heb. 4:16 (AMPC) Every high flyer in life is a product of diverse helps. You will never find a successful person who achieved his success all by himself. In life, it is not strength that makes any man, because scripture says that by strength shall no man prevail. Likewise, no man succeeds just by his human will or efforts alone because the Word says it is not of him that wills or of him that runs but of God that shows mercy, and mercy is linked to help in our anchor text. Similarly, having skills is good, but it is not the only thing that determines how far you will go because God's Word says even men of skill lack favour at times (Ecc 9:11c).
